Anyone can learn the basics of a new language; however just because you can say a phrase or two doesn't mean anything if you do not know or understand the culture. Consider extending an overseas business trip or book a trip to the country you are ( or planning to do) business with. Let this be a leisure trip with no business involved. Experience the people, the culture, the food, the music, etc. This will help you later with your business efforts. Try not to do a guided tour or group activities. Take a walk, ride a bike, catch the local subway and just take it all in. You will see that the wind will blow you in some very interesting directions.
You will do better business when you understand your clients better.
